SADDLE UP: THE AUTRY IS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!

by The Autry National Center of the American West

Make a donation today to help us raise $5,000 for educational programs that support thousands of Los Angelesarea schoolchildren!

With the support of donors like you, the Autry brings history to life through engaging museum visits and hands-on projects, ensuring that tens of thousands of students have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the American West.

So, what exactly will my donation support?

The Autry's educational programs serve more than 50,000 Southern California K–12 students who visit the museum each year, including approximately 15,000 low-income students who receive free admission and transportation from our All Aboard! program. Students learn about many aspects of Western history in active and engaging ways through guided tours and programs with museum education staff and docents.

Autry in Residence and Classroom Curators are in-school educational outreach programs that serve more than 8,000 K–12 students annually with hands-on learning experiences and long-term projects that build an array of skills not typically taught in the classroom. Additionally, these programs assist teachers with realizing and implementing new classroom learning standards.

"I feel really honored and special that my project is going to be displayed in a museum. That doesn't happen every day!" —Jasmine, student participant

No gift is too small! We invite you to take part and make a donation—at any level—in support of these truly innovative and dynamic educational programs.

Your support has great impact!

And so much more . . .

Gifts to this campaign support the Autry Annual Fund and the crucial operational work of the museum. In addition to providing funds for field trips and art supplies, Annual Fund donations are directed to whatever the museum really needs to support—from staff members who make sure your visit is fun and engaging to the preservation of objects you see while visiting. The Annual Fund serves as a lifesaver for whatever areas need support at any given time. Annual Fund donations help support:

  • Critically acclaimed exhibitions like Floral Journey: Native North American Beadwork and Route 66: The Road and the Romance. Learn more about special exhibitions at the Autry here!
  • Family programs, film screenings, and scholarly lectures that provide context for the Autry’s significant collections and further explore the history and cultures of the American West. Major programs include the American Indian Arts Marketplace, an annual event for more than 200 artists to sell their artworks directly to the public, and Native Voices at the Autry, the country’s only Equity theatre company dedicated exclusively to producing new works by Native American, Alaska Native, and First Nations playwrights.
